Dr. Kurt Campbell and Dr. Michael Green, RJIF’s Distinguished Guest Scholars, held a joint press conference at Japan National Press Club and nearly 200 journalists attended. This number suggests Japanese media’s high interest in the views of Dr. Campbell and Dr. Green.
At the conference, after the introduction by RJIF Chairman Yoichi Funabashi, Dr. Campbell and Dr. Green made speeches on the strategic vision which Japan in the 21st century needs to have. Those speeches covered a wide range of topics such as the significance of the National Security Council in Japan, the importance to shape U.S. foreign policies through Japan’s NSC, the importance of the close US-Japan cooperation in Asia and the Pacific region, and the revitalization of Japanese economy as the highest priority issue, followed by Q and A session. This conference was moderated by Mr. Kensuke Karube, Executive writer/Chief Commentator of Jiji Press and nearly 200 journalists attended.
