“10-year Investigation Commission on the Fukushima Nuclear Accident” receives “Excellent Publication Award” from the Social and Environment Division, Atomic Energy Society of Japan


On March 18, 2022, Asia Pacific Initiative (API) received the “18th Social and Environment Division Award – Excellent Publication Award” from the Social and Environment Division, Atomic Energy Society of Japan.

The award was given for API’s significant contribution in the societal aspect of nuclear energy through the publication of “10-year Investigation Commission on the Fukushima Nuclear Accident: Final Report by Investigation Commission on the Fukushima Nuclear Accident”. Upon receiving the award, Professor SUZUKI Kazuto, Senior Research Fellow at API (Professor, Graduate School of Public Policy, University of Tokyo) and Chair of the 10-year Investigation Commission on the Fukushima Nuclear Accident, stated:
“In Japan, we conduct rigid scrutiny before launching a policy or business, but they are rarely reviewed. For the Fukushima nuclear accident, multiple reviews including private ones were conducted. We are very pleased to be recognized for our work in reviewing the review.”
