RJIF Chairman’s article in the Washington Post


Dr Yoichi Funabashi, Chairman of the Rebuild Japan Initiative Foundation, collaborated with Dr Chung Min Lee, Professor at Yonsei University and a senior associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, on an op-ed for the Washington Post. The piece, “Despite Trump’s wishes, America can’t turn its back on Japan and South Korea,“ argues that US Presidential candidate Donald Trump, has engineered a shift in US public opinion that could negatively impact the long-term sustainability of the Asia-Pacific Rebalance strategy. The piece also highlights the potential for closer Japan-South Korea ties based on historical precedent.
