Center for American Progress delegation visits RJIF to discuss “Post Fukushima – risk governance and security”

On February 19, 2016, ten members from the Center for American Progress, a leading U.S. think-tank, joined working group members from RJIF’s Independent Investigation Commission on the Fukushima Nuclear Accident to exchange views on the Japanese government’s crisis response to the Fukushima Nuclear Accident in 2011.

Both sides were particularly interested in the challenge of creating a coherent legal framework to manage nuclear disasters, as well as ways to improve the risk assessment process of safety regulations. Energy security and the need for responding to the risks associated with global warming were amongst other topics discussed in relation to Post-Fukushima Energy Policy.
