Signing Ceremony Held for the Establishment of the API Takano Fellowship


On September 24, 2024, Asia Pacific Initiative (API) held a signing ceremony for the establishment of the “API Takano Fellowship,” a program that will send a Japanese researcher to IISS-Asia, the Singapore office of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS).

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Bastian Giegerich, Director-General and Chief Executive of the IISS in London, who visited Japan for the occasion, along with Mr. Makoto Takano, Director, Chairman of the Board and Founder of Forbes JAPAN, linkties Holdings Co., Ltd., the supporter of the API Takano Fellowship.

The API Takano Fellowship is a program aimed at nurturing the next generation of leaders in foreign and security policy by sending Japanese researchers to IISS-Asia. The program seeks to cultivate globally-minded Japanese think tank professionals capable of making an impact on the international stage.

Recruitment for the First Cohort of API Takano Fellows

The recruitment for the inaugural first API Takano Fellow is currently underway. The first API Takano Fellow is expected to begin their work at IISS-Asia in the first quarter of 2025 for a period of one year, with the possibility of extending up to two years. Interested applicants should submit the required application documents in accordance with the application guidelines. The deadline for submission is Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 11:00 PM (Japan Standard Time).
