About “10-year Investigation Commission on the Fukushima Nuclear Accident”

API established “10-year Investigation Commission on the Fukushima Nuclear Accident (Second Independent Investigation Commission)” in June 2019 to identify what the Japanese government and society have learned (or have not learned) in the last 10 years.

The report titled “10-year Investigation Commission on the Fukushima Nuclear Accident: Final Report by Investigation Commission on the Fukushima Nuclear Accident” was originally published in Japanese in February 2021.

The commission interviewed 37 people who were involved in the disaster or are still involved in the issue today, including people from TEPCO, the Nuclear Regulation Authority, the Self-Defense Forces, and lawmakers. Based on these interviews, eight experts contributed to examining and analyzing the situation.
