RJIF Chairman’s op-ed published in the New York Times


Dr. Yoichi Funabashi, Chairman of the Rebuild Japan Initiative Foundation, wrote an op-ed, which was featured on the front page of the New York Times, published on February 9, 2017. (It also appeared on their website on February 8, 2017.)
The piece examines the question of why there is no extreme populist movement in Japan. Those very factors contributing to Japan’s success in staving off a populist movement are shown to carry with them some long term challenges to future stability in Japan.
