[Event Report]“India’s Role in the Global South” — API Roundtable with Dr. Titli Basu from Jawaharlal Nehru University


The Asia Pacific Initiative (API) held a roundtable on July 23, 2025, welcoming Associate Professor Titli Basu from Jawaharlal Nehru University, India.

At the roundtable, Dr. Basu delivered a lecture on the relationship between India and the countries of the Global South, followed by an active exchange of views with API experts.

The discussion focused on how the Global South perceives and seeks to engage with the changing international order, and what position India, as a leading country of the Global South, is aiming to take. The conversation further covered a wide range of topics, including India’s role in BRICS and the Quad, its diplomatic approach toward Russia, and its stance on free trade.
