The article, which is in the format of an interview, was originally published by the Asahi Shimbun\u2019s Asia &amp; Japan Watch in December, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The interview with professor Gerald Curtis of Columbia University, a pre-eminent expert on Japan, offers deep insights into Japanese politics, U.S.-Japan relations and international relations in the Asia Pacific region.
