Rebuild Japan Initiative Foundation USA, Inc. (RJIF-USA) was established in July 2016 as the U.S. organization of the Japan-based Rebuild Japan Initiative Foundation (RJIF).
\nRJIF was a think tank that was founded in September 2011 after the Great East Japan Earthquake had brought about a catastrophic crisis in Japan. RJIF developed various research programs that concentrated on pressing issues facing the country with the concept of \u201crebuilding Japan,\u201d starting with the investigation of the Fukushima nuclear accident.
\nOn the occasion of RJIF\u2019s fifth anniversary, RJIF-USA was set up in the U.S. to form an international intellectual network. Shortly afterwards, RJIF was re-organized as Asia Pacific Initiative (API) in July 2017, at the time that RJIF stepped from its first \u201crebuilding Japan\u201d phase to its second stage that widened its focus to the Asia Pacific region.
\nSince their inception, RJIF-USA and API have been carrying out their research and advocacy activities hand-in-hand, with the goal of becoming an intellectual incubator that assists in constructing a peaceful liberal international order in the Asia Pacific region.<\/p>\n
