Asia Pacific Initiative (API) held the Asia Pacific Initiative Forum (APIF) 2020 as a virtual event broadcasting from Yokohama on December 4-5th, 2020.

APIF is an invite-only forum which aims to look forward 30 years into the future of Asia and create a new innovative ecosystem together with business leaders mainly from Japan, India, and the ASEAN countries. We seek to become an exchange platform, developing synergies through innovative ideas and the endeavors of our participant companies.

With the vision of “Articulating Asian Ideas”, discussions were held regarding Asia’s multi-dimensional prosperity, as the COVID-19 pandemic has raised the need for a fundamental rethink of existing economic and social frameworks.

The forum brought together a wide range of Asia’s frontrunners in startup founders, social entrepreneurs, investors and corporate executives, to share ideas on Asia’s response to COVID-19, the accelerating digital transformation heading toward the post-COVID era, Technology and AI for Decarbonisation, transforming education, supply chains with geo-economic dynamics, and the circular economy.

Moreover, we invited Asia’s political leaders SUGA Yoshihide, Japan’s Prime Minister, Audrey Tang (Digital Minister, Executive Yuan, Taiwan), H.E. Mr. Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan (Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment of Republic of Indonesia) and Tharman Shanmugaratnam (Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for Social Policies, Republic of Singapore), and shared a vision on bringing sustainable and inclusive prosperity to Asia. During the two days in APIF 2020, the idea of collaboration among public, private, academia and other sectors to bring multi-dimensional prosperity in Asia was highlighted. APIF will continue its activities to further advance this momentum.
